Setup guide

Connect to Gemini

Published ahead of launch. Subscriptions are not open yet. These steps are written from Google's help pages (support.google.com/gemini/answer/17209137, as read on 2026-10-02) and will be confirmed against the live service before subscriptions open. Menu names in your app may differ.

Before you start

Google's custom apps in Gemini have conditions. All of these need to be true:

  • You are in the United States and are 18 or over.
  • You use a personal Google account (not a work or school account).
  • Gemini is set to English.
  • Keep Activity is on for your account (see the privacy note below).
  • Your plan includes custom apps. Google does not document which plans include custom apps. This will be confirmed before subscriptions open.
  • Once subscriptions open, you will need a subscription to 9to95, because the connector asks you to sign in to it. You will receive a user name and a one-time sign-in code; there is no key to copy or paste.

Steps (web only)

  1. Open gemini.google.com in a browser on a computer. Adding the app is a web step.
  2. Open Settings, then Connected Apps, then Custom apps.
  3. Choose Add a custom app and paste the connector address. It will be published here when subscriptions open.
  4. Gemini opens the 9to95 sign-in page. Enter your user name and your one-time sign-in code, choose a password for next time, and choose Allow. Gemini has no field for a key, and none is needed.
  5. If Gemini instead asks for a client ID and secret (under Advanced features, Show more), that means its automatic registration did not work; ask support for a client ID and secret, then sign in the same way.
  6. Start a conversation and type @ followed by the app name to call it. Ask for a comparison of two retirement plans; Gemini interviews you and writes a scenario for the calculator.

After this one-time setup the app also works from the Gemini mobile app, called the same way with @. The sign-in renews itself; if Gemini later says the app needs you to sign in again, remove and re-add it or reconnect it from Connected Apps and sign in with your password.

Privacy note on Keep Activity

Gemini keeps your conversations under your Keep Activity setting, and the app's requests and the calculator's answers are part of those conversations. 9to95 itself does not store your scenario or results, but Google's copy follows Google's own settings. Google states it does not control third-party servers. See privacy.

Gemini has no public directory for this kind of app, so this page is the way to find the connector. Stuck? See support.
